WSJ: Battling Infectious Diseases in the 20th Century- The Impact of Vaccines
In a recent article, the Wall Street Journal published a series of graphics that helps illustrate the impact of vaccines on infectious diseases. The data source is Project Tycho, and includes data from all disease reports for the US, dating all the way back to 1888. The black line on each heat map is an indicator of when vaccines for the diseases were fist introduced. Reviewing this data leaves little room for doubt of the importance of vaccines and associated research. It is results, like the ones shown in this data, that motivate our team of researchers to continue doing what we do.
